Broccoli boost

Second-hand smoke and car fumes which are rich in benzene are silent killers setting us up for heart disease and assorted cancers.  I’m always amazed at folk who are seated outdoors enjoying a coffee at restaurants and coffee shops that abut busy thoroughfares teeming with traffic while their internal organs are swamped by toxic emissions.

One of the ways we can neutralise this pernicious menace is to consume lots of raw cruciferous vegetables like broccoli with the sprouted form being even more potent as these contain a chemical called sulforaphane which eliminates environmental toxins like benzene.  Cooking will abrogate this benefit so we will need to eat these in their raw state.
