Alcohol’s dark side

We are a nation that is lubricated by alcohol, the consumption of which disingenuously abetted by television advertising.  We are seduced at our peril.  A mere two alcoholic drinks per night increases breast cancer risk.  Men’s prostates are also vulnerable.  For non-aggressive prostate cancer or the one that is unlikely to be fatal recent research indicates that the risk increases the more liquor men drink, while for beer it increases in the lower range of consumption, incredibly only one beer per day.  The good news is that wine is not significantly associated with the risk of non-aggressive prostate cancer.  For aggressive prostate cancer a significant positive association was more apparent at lower dose for liquor, one drink per day, but at higher doses for wine, two drinks, while the small ray of sunshine here is that decreased risks were noted at lower amounts of beer.
